Sansepolcro loves its history. Any opportunity for the community to dress up and celebrate its heritage is welcomed with open arms. This year has been especially busy because of the millennium anniversary of the founding of Sansepolcro. I love the costumes and festivities that accompany such events. Anyways, stopping the ramble about my love for Sansepolcro, I climbed the bell tower! It's my second time climbing it, but this time I got to climb to the very top of steeple (I literally walked across a beam on the ceiling; in a dress no less). The view was incredible. I can't even express how much I love this little town!

Anghiari

What do  you do when you are given four tickets to Anghiari? You take a spontaneous afternoon trip to the walled city to explore the gardens, and visit the original Busatti. Even though there isn't much to do in Anghiari it was a nice afternoon trip that left me a new poppy embroidered Busatti towel, and a touristy but adorable io vivo in toscana t-shirt.

Montecasale

Montecasale is a monastery that is about 15 km hike round trip or a little over 9 miles (up a mountain I might add). The day had perfect weather, not too hot, and sun. One student came with us along with two professors, one professor's baby, and her husband. We were a merry band of travelers. The only downside was I had a few days of soreness (pretty sure I worked some strange muscles!). I hope to make the trek again before I leave!

Art in the Palazzo

My art history professor from when I studied abroad is also a excellent print maker and painter. She put on a small art sale while the Meredith Alums were in Sansepolcro. The three of us girls were recruited to help set up, and keep the Alums happy. This was no easy feat since the room was boiling due to the heat wave in Sansepolco and thirty plus people in one room. I have never been so glad to take a cold shower afterwards in all my life!
